A local court has directed police to probe a complaint in which a 34-year-old woman has accused her lesbian lover of betrayal after forcing her to undergo a sex change procedure to camouflage the relationship.
According to the petition filed by the victim at a magistrate’s court, the two women married in 2001. The victim alleged that she tied knot with a Mumbai-based ex-employee of Air India after undergoing hormonal treatment and a partial sex change (above waist). She claimed that her partner served a divorce notice on her without giving a valid reason.
“The magistrate, in whose court the woman (male partner) had filed the complaint seeking action against her partner for offences of cheating and criminal breach of trust various sections of IPC, has directed police to investigate the case,” said PI Suhas Nadguada attached to Bund Garden police station. The police will be probing the case under CRPC 202 following the directive of the court that has forwarded the complainant’s application to them, Nadguada said.
