New York, May 31 (ANI): A Harlem woman has claimed in a lawsuit that she contracted herpes after she applied a lipstick endorsed by Rihanna.
Starkeema Greenidge, who filed a suit against MAC in the Manhattan Supreme Court, alleged that she got the virus at the singer’s concert in Brooklyn when a representative of the cosmetics brand applied a used tube of ‘RiRi Woo’ on to her lips.
The 28-year-old told the New York Daily News that she wasn’t able to work for two weeks and it cost her a lot of money.
The waitress said that she slapped the cosmetic brand with the suit in the hope of forcing the company to use more hygienic practises in the future, like using disposable tubes or swabs to apply the lipstick.
According to the suit, when Greenidge went to the May 7 Barclays Center concert, she stopped at a MAC popup shop there to apply a ruby-red lipstick to her upper lip.
The employee instructed her to “press her lips together and spread the lipstick around,” the suit says.
The suit charges that MAC didn’t use a fresh or new lipstick tube, but rather one that had been used for other patrons.
Requesting unspecified damages, Greenidge has also claimed that the herpes has caused her “mental anguish and emotional distress.” (ANI)
