Rohtak, June 04: A migrant woman, who was married to a Haryanvi youth last October, has accused her brother-in-law and his wife of selling her off to a Panipat resident for Rs 40,000.
Police registered a case against the couple late Wednesday evening, after the victim managed to reach her in-laws’ house in Lalitkhera village after escaping from the clutches of her captor.
The victim, who originally hails from Orissa, has also accused her relative of rape. She said Rajbir, her husband’s elder brother, and his wife Rajwanti had abducted her on March 15, when she was alone in the house, and taken her to Panipat in an unconscious state after giving her a sedative-laced eatable. She said Rajbir had raped her at a house in Panipat and when she tried to flee, the owner held her back, saying he had paid Rs 40,000 for her. However, she managed to flee on Wednesday and reach her husband Rakesh at Lalitkhera.
A police official in Jind said a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim, who had approached them along with her husband.
