NEW DELHI: In yet another incident of a scuffle, a woman passenger and a female staffer of Air India exchanged blows over an argumentat the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday morning.
According to a senior police official, a call to Police Control Room(PCR) was received at around 4.55 a.m. “regarding a quarrel at a checking counter at Terminal-3”.
During investigation, it was found that a woman passenger, a resident of Panchkula in Haryana, had to board Air India Flight AI 019 to Ahmedabad at 05.00 hours, he said.
Sources in the airline said the passenger allegedly slapped the duty manager. The duty manager also hit back, DCP, Airport, Sanjay Bhatia, said.
“A woman passenger was told by a counter staff that she would not be able to check in because she was late for the flight. This led to an argument and the staff directed her to the woman duty manager and there was an argument and an altercation,” an Air India spokesperson said.
Sources in the airline said the passenger allegedly slapped the duty manager. The duty manager also also slapped her in retaliation, DCP, Airport, Sanjay Bhatia, said.
“Arguments started between the passenger and Air India woman staff and the passenger slapped her. The woman staff in retaliation also slapped her,” Bhatia said.
The passenger later called the police and went to the police station. Both the passenger and the Air India staff later apologised to each other and the issue was amicably resolved, the spokesperson added.
