Woman, paramour kill hubby

Chennnai, January 04: The Avadi police have arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly murdering her husband.

Ashok, working as a salesman in a shop at Aminjikarai, was missing and his uncle filed a police complaint on December 12 claiming that he suspected some foul play by Ashok’s wife Rekha Sweeti (20).

Police investigations found that Rekha had an affair with Aasim before her marriage and they were still continuing it. When the police interrogated them, both confessed to have murdered Ashok as he had learnt about their illicit relationship.

On November 27, Aasim passed on sleeping pills to Rekha through his friend Vinod. Rekha administered 26 pills to Ashok, passing it off as a health drink. After Ashok was unconscious, Aasim strangled him, while his friends and Rekha held Ashok’s hands and legs. Later Aasim and his friend Thalib showed Ashok’s body in a car and drove to Chittoor, where they threw it in a bushy area.

Vinod took away Ashok’s office bag, mobile phone, a set of clothes and his bike.

After the duo confessed to the crime, police teams along with Aasim were sent to Chittoor to look out for Ashok’s body, but couldn’t find it. When the team spoke to the Chittoor police, it learnt that an unidentified body was recovered from the area and later buried.

Based on the details given by the Chittoor police, the team determined that the body was that of Ashok.
