Woman manager alleges harassment by boss

New Delhi: A 33-year-old woman, who works as a development manager at a private insurance company in south Delhi’s Green Park, has alleged sexual harassed by her immediate superior, police said today.

A case has been registered under Sections 354D (stalking) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC. However, the 36-year-old accused, who is the branch head, is yet to be arrested, said a police official.

The incident came to light last evening when the woman called up the police control room after her boss allegedly hurt her in front of her colleagues, after she turned down alleged sexual overtures, said the official.

In her complaint, the woman told the police that the accused had been stalking her since the day she joined office.

He allegedly tried to develop intimate relation with her on the pretext of promotion, and threatened her of transfer is she refused his offer, said the official.

The woman further said the matter was reported to the human resource department of the enterprise and she was awaiting action against the accused, when things went worse by last evening, said police.

Yesterday, two women colleagues started to fight with the complainant and the accused allegedly started videographing the act, suspectedly trying to build up a defense strategy to save himself from the potential accusations, said police.
