New Delhi, July 28: A 22-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances today while her unemployed husband was battling for life in a city hospital after he allegedly consumed poison, police said.
Investigators suspect Ajay Kumar (30) allegedly strangled his wife Manisha and then attempted to commit suicide by consuming some poisonous substance, a senior police officer said.
The incident was reported from Narela at 1:30 pm when police received a call informing them about the couple lying unconscious in their residence, he said.
Police rushed the couple to Raja Harish Chander Hospital where doctors declared that Manisha was brought dead.
Kumar is in a serious condition and said to be unfit for statement.
The cause of woman’s death is yet to be ascertained but police suspect it to be a case of strangulation. “We are awaiting post mortem report,” the officer said.
