Imphal, April 03:A 75-year-old woman died last night after troops resorted to firing to celebrate India’s World Cup victory at Thoubal district.
Sources said the Assam Rifles troops resorted to firing after India defeated Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup yesterday.
The woman was sleeping when she was hit by a stray bullet and killed.
Assam Rifles sources said they were waiting for a detailed report in the incident.
Thoubal Police was also investigating the incident.
