NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old woman was killed while her husband and daughter were injured after a speeding BSF vehicle hit their scooty from behind.
According to media reports, the incident took place on Wednesday morning at Lodhi Road flyover in South east Delh when the dead woman identified as Nilofar and her husband Jamil Alam, 39, were passing through the Connaught Place with their seven-year-old daughter.
Alam, his wife and daughter Khushi were taken to the Kalavati hospital where doctors declared Nilofer dead on arrival.
Alam, a hawker by profession is a resident of Madangiri is stated to be stable as he had survived with non-fatal injuries. Whereas, his daughter, Khushi, had suffered serious injuries are still undergoing treatment.
A case has been registered at Hazarat Nizamuddin police station against the driver of the bus, head constable Ramesh Chander Sharma who was arrested from the accident spot.
“In his statement, Alam told us that the accident took place when he was riding down the flyover. The BSF bus that was headed towards Pragati Maidan to drop the BSF personnel from Tigri, hit their scooter from behind. Based on Alam’s statement a case of rash driving and for causing death due to negligence was registered against Sharma. We have also impounded the bus and BSF officers were informed about the accident,” according to Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East district, reported Hindustan Times.
