Vijayawada, July 09: A housewife jumped to death from the Indrakeeladri hills here on Wednesday afternoon even as the pilgrims watched in horror.
K Radha, 22, a resident of Arundelpet, jumped from almost 40 ft height resulting in her instantaneous death.
She reportedly called up her parents from a public phone booth on the hills before ending her life. The pilgrims alerted the police and the temple authorities.
Locals said both Radha and her husband Veeraiah quarrelled on Tuesday night. Radha who got married two years ago was reportedly quarrelling with Veeraiah over petty issues. Her parents, who reside at Undi village in West Godavari district, rushed one of their relatives in Vijayawada to Radha’s house after she called them up.
The suicide is the second such incident reported atop the Indrakeeladri in the recent past. Temple executive officer Chandrakumar said they would look into appointing more security guards to prevent such incidents.
