Dubai, July 09: A Russian woman landed behind bars after she was convicted of going on a clubbing spree using a forged Uzbek passport to pick up potential sex clients.
The Dubai Court of First Instance recently jailed the 20-year-old Russian woman visitor for three months after she was found guilty of working in the sex trade.
The judge said the accused, identified as V.B., will be deported after serving her punishment.
The Court of First Instance also referred V.B. to the Dubai Misdemeanors Court where she will soon be prosecuted for aiding and abetting a runaway to forge the passport, using the forged passport and staying illegally in the country after her visit visa expired.
When V.B. appeared in courtroom four, she denied her charges and pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors had charged the girl with working in the sex trade, forging an Uzbek passport and using it to trick bouncers and guardsmen so she could enter nightclubs.
According to the arraignment sheet, prosecutors accused V.B. with overstaying in the country after her visa expired and she failed to pay the overstaying fine.
However, she admitted that she stayed illegally in the country.
The defendant was quoted admitting in her prosecution statement: “I flew into the country, on a visit visa, through Sharjah Airport. I stayed in the flat of a person called Jon; I worked as a prostitute for his account. He is the one who handed me the forged passport so I could use it to enter nightclubs.”
