New Delhi: A woman guard posted at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital was today arrested for allegedly beating up a patient for not following the queue. According to a senior police official, one patient along with her daughter had come to the OPD. “As it was a long queue, the patient tried to jump and when the lady guard objected to it, they entered into an argument,” said a police officer.
“The lady guard slapped the patient and later another lady guard started beating her. However, the matter was resolved only after the intervention of other people present in the area,” said police.
The guard was arrested under section 323 (assault), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 34 (common intention) and was later released on bail.
A purported video depicting the incident surfaced which showed the guard slapping the patient and both pulling each other’s hair in the end. Sources said that a inquiry has been ordered in the incident. However, several calls made to the SDM did not elicit any response.
