Woman held with pistol at Delhi airport

New Delhi, May 09: A 42-year-old woman was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here for carrying a country-made pistol and a live cartridge, police said Monday.

Vandana Kaushal, a resident of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was at the IGI airport to catch a Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight on Sunday. During the security check, a firearm was found in her check-in baggage, a police officer said.

She failed to produce the pistol’s documents. A live cartridge was also found with her. We have registered a case under the Arms Act, added the officer.

Kaushal was taken to a court, where she was granted bail for a surety of Rs.10,000.
