Woman held for allegedly cheating in the name of social service

Hyderabad: Gopalpuram Police arrested a social service worker from Bholakpur, Gandhi Nagar.

According to the statement made by sub-Inspector of Police, Mr. T. Gangadhar Reddy, Mary Naidu started Sharada Health and Social Service at her residence in Gandhi Nagar in 1985 but she did not employ any worker for social service. She did not even have members but she opened an account in SBI in 2014 and started collecting funds in the name of society.

She entrusted the responsibility of collecting donations to Suresh, Balia and Gautam Reddy. They deposited cheques worth Rs. 98 lakh in SBI account.

On the next day, Mary Naidu withdrew Rs. 3.60 lakh. On a complaint made by SBI officials, a case was registered by the police.

After registering FIR, she was absconding. However, she was arrested at her residence on 11th November.
