Kota: A 19-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in the Chawani area here under the Gumanpura police station, officials said.
The woman died late on Monday night, succumbing to death during treatment at a private hospital, where she was rushed after she took the extreme step, the police officials said.
The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem today morning and inquiry proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC were initiated in this connection, an official said.
The reason behind the extreme step was yet to be ascertained as no suicide note was recovered, the official added.
A 19-year-old woman, a resident of Chawani area of the city yesterday around 4 o’clock hanged herself from the ceiling fan of her room, said ASI Mukesh Tyagi, who is posted at the Gumanpura police station.
The family members, who were in the next room, rushed her to a private hospital where she breathed her last, he said.
The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem at Maharao Bheem Singh (MBS) hospital, Tyagi said.
According to family members, the deceased had passed class XII this year and used to take tuitions at home, he said.
