Hyderabad, Novem,ber 05: A pregnant woman was forced to deliver her twin babies on the main road in Mahbubnagar on Friday, after the doctors at the district government hospital turned her away. Following a public outcry, a probe has been ordered.
Lakshmi, 34, gave birth to twins on the road, right in front of the government hospital, after doctors expressed their helplessness and told her family to rush her to Hyderabad. Though she pleaded with the doctors, they refused to admit her.
A native of Jinuguralla village in Devarkadra mandal, she came to the hospital on October 29. She went back after two days of hospitalisation. She came back on Friday, but was turned away.
Members of the district women’s groups staged a dharna in front of the hospital and raised slogans against the doctors. Collector M Purushotham Reddy ordered an inquiry.
