Hyderabad, August 04: A 40-year-old housewife, was found dead at her residence in Jamikunta in Tolichowki under suspicious circumstances. Two tolas of gold and two cellphones are believed to be missing from the house as well.
Golconda inspector of police, Syed Jahangir told that both the victim Rita Devi and her husband, Gowri Shankar Shukla hailing from Bihar had been living in the city for the last 20 years. The couple ran a dairy business, and supplied milk to areas around them.
On Wednesday, Gowri Shankar became concerned after his wife did not respond to his calls. He broke the door open and is believed to have found his wife dead in her bedroom on the first floor in the early hours of Wednesday. No wounds were found on her body, and police suspect she may have been strangled or smothered to death by burglars, who bolted the door from inside. Syed Jahangir added that the evidence currently points to murder-for-gain as a motive.
The police have collected evidence from the spot, and are investigating. The body has been shifted to Osmania General Hospital (OGH) for postmortem and a case has been registered under Section 302 (Punishment for Murder) and 380 (Theft in dwelling/house) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
