Hyderabad: A 20-year-old woman was injured and had to be hospitalised after her supervisor at a real estate firm allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana today, police said.
The incident occurred on the outskirts of Vellampalli.
D Naresh, the accused, had asked the victim, who works in the same office as he, to meet at a friend’s house, police said.
When she went there, Naresh attacked her with a sharp weapon, injuring her on the neck, Kalwakurthy Circle Inspector Mallikarjun Reddy said citing the woman’s complaint.
“The woman managed to escape and has been shifted to a state-run hospital in Hyderabad,” the police officer told PTI.
Naresh then ran away.
Police found a petrol can at the scene of offence and suspected that Naresh planned to kill her, he said.
As to what prompted the attack, Reddy said police were investigating it, as the woman did not say anything in her complaint in this regard.
A case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC was registered and a hunt had been launched to nab the accused, police said.
