Woman employee hurls slipper at Judge in court

Kurnool, February 26: Taking a cue from the incident where footwear was hurled at the erstwhile US president George Bush, a government employee did the same in the court here today.

She threw a chappal on Judge M Shanmugam in the IVth Additional and Family Sessions court in the city today.

Surprisingly, the woman – Radha Rani – is a typist in the same court. The judge and the typist had an argument earlier in the day on a petty issue.

The altercation turned into a quarrel and in a fit of rage, Radha Rani hurled a chappal on the judge. Soon the onlookers intervened and took the typist away from the premises.

Judge Shanmugam lodged a complaint with the II Town police.

Circle Inspector Srinivasulu said cases were registered against Rani under Sections 186, 187, 228, 353, 355 and 500 for insulting her senior official.

The typist was taken into custody and later admitted to Kurnool Government Hospital following some illness.

Speaking to mediapersons, Radha Rani said she insulted the judge unable to withstand `harassment’. But the CI said they have not received any complaint from Radha Rani, so far.
