Hyderabad, February 17: A woman died while her husband survived after they consumed sleeping pills in a suicide pact in the city on Wednesday.
Financial problems are said to be the reason behind the couple’s extreme step.
The couple, K Raghavendra Rao (36) and Bharathi (28), are residents of Kummar Basthi in Amberpet. Raghavendra Rao works as a web designer in a private firm and the couple have two children.
According to Amberpet police, the couple were facing serious financial problems and used to frequently quarrel with each other for the same reason. After their two girl children, aged six and four, went to sleep last night, the duo consumed excess dose of sleeping pills.
This morning, the children woke up and on failing to wake their parents up, they began crying. Soon their neighbours rushed the duo to a hospital.
Bharathi died undergoing treatment while Raghavendra Rao’s condition is said to be stable.
