Shahjahanpur (UP): The mother of a village head was today shot dead while he got seriously injured when some persons opened fire in the Dhukri Khurd village in Mirzapur area here, the police said.
The incident took place when village head Jitendra (35) was going to temple with mother Rambeti (70), they said.
“Some persons fired at them. While Rambeti died on the spot Jitendra was injured and rushed to a hospital, where his condition was stated to be serious,” a police official said.
According to police officials, the incident was the fallout of old enmity.
An FIR has been registered against some persons in the matter, they said.
