Bhubaneswar: A middle aged woman died inside a car caught in a road blockade here held by students union elections by Utkal University against cancellation of the students union elections.
Police said the woman, who hailed from Jamshedpur and worked as a teacher in a private school here, was on her way home when the car, which she was driving, was stuck on NH 5 in front of the university due to the blockade.
She fell unconscious inside the car suddenly and police along with some students rescued her after breaking open the glass window.
She was rushed to Capital Hospital where she was declared dead.
“The woman might have died due to shock on seeing some protesting students rush towards her vehicle,” DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said, adding that the exact cause of the death would be known only after autopsy.
