Shillong, September 28: A forty-year-old woman died and two others injured after they were allegedly assaulted by suspected Bangladeshi nationals along the Meghalaya-Bangladesh border, the BSF said today.
The three women of Nongskhen village were going to a bazar on a jungle road adjacent to the Indo-Bangladesh border when they were assaulted yesterday, the BSF said in a statement, adding Ropal Malngian succumbed to the injuries.
“As per preliminary postmortem report Ropal died due to head injury as she was hit with sharp weapons,” the BSF said.

The BSF immediately lodged a protest note with BDR and a company commander level flag-meeting was held between the two forces last evening.
The Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), acting on the input of BSF, identified the attackers as Manik Miya, Fyzul Rahaman, Noor Islam, Shakir Ali, Kosir Miya and Jahirduddin -? all hailing from Sylhet.
