Ahmedabad, August 24: A woman and her two-year-old daughter drowned in an underground water tank in their residence in Vatva area of the city, police said today.
The incident occurred late last night, when Saraswati Chauhan (22) allegedly jumped into the underground tank of her house in Gayatrinagar society in Vatva, to save her daughter Sonu who accidentally fell into the tank, they said.
According to police, Saraswati’s husband Anand was at work when the incident happened.
Bodies of Saraswati and her daughter was fished out of the tank and has been sent for postmortem at the civil hospital, they said.
A case of accidental death has been registered and further investigation in the matter was on, police added.
