Woman constable found murdered, tension erupts in Kota

Jaipur, September 30: At least six policemen were injured today when protestors, demanding immediate action over the alleged murder of a woman constable, turned violent in Chechat area of Kota district.

“The mob of some 500 people pelted stones at police in which around half-a-dozen policemen received mild injuries following which police lobbed tear gas shells to control the situation,” Circle Officer, Ratan Lal, said.

“The constable Maya Yadav, who was posted at Chechat police station, was to report on duty at 8 am but did not reach till late so staff members went to her quarter, located behind the police station, and found her body lying in a pool of blood,” Lal said.

It is suspected that Yadav was stabbed to death.

“When the villagers came to know about the death, they staged protest near the police station. They soon started stone pelting but the situation was brought under control.
