25-year-old Shaheen Begum committed suicide due to misbehaviour of her brother-in-law and his wife. The incident occurred under Ibrahimpatnam police station limits where Shaheen Begum took the extreme step on May 29. She died yesterday night.
Police sources said that Shaheen Begum’s brother-in-law Salam and his wife Haseena Begum who stay in Shaheen’s neighbourhood had scolded and beaten Shaheen’s son Rashed for being naughty at their house. The boy was said to be switching on and off the cooler. Shaheen Begum reached her brother in law’s house in a fit of rage. She had heated altercations with her brother-in-law and his wife over the issue. The couple allegedly misbehaved with Shaheen and abused her. Dejected over this she poured kerosene over her body at her residence and set herself ablaze. Shaheen Begum’s husband and his brother have houses in the neighbourhood.
