Hyderabad: Dejected by husband’s threat to perform second marriage, a woman committed suicide. The incident occurred under Mailardevpally police station limits, where 18-year-old, Uma Devi, hanged herself to death at her natal house.
Devi got married to Krishna, of Vijayawada, in April 2016. Her parents had given ample dowry in cash and kind at the time of marriage. Still the greedy husband was harassing her and was pressurising to bring more dowry; failing to do so, he had threatened to perform second marriage. Distraught over this the woman committed suicide.
