Damoh, July 11: A woman was allegedly burnt to death in Piprodha Chhakkar village of Damoh district by a priest. The incident took place after the woman opposed the priest who tried to molest her.
According to reports the priest was harassing the woman for last one year. Last Thursday the priest reached the woman’s residence and tried to outrage her modesty. As the woman opposed him, the priest allegedly poured kerosene on her and set her on fire in which she suffered severe burn injuries.
In serious condition, the woman was admitted to the Jabalpur Medical College where she breathed her last during treatment.
On the basis of dying declaration by the victim, the police have registered a case against the priest and are looking for him. The accused priest is absconding.
