Woman along with kid stage dharna at police station

A woman along with her one-and-a-half-year old girl child created a stir for over two hours here today by squatting in front of a police station demanding justice in dowry harassment case.

Her parents and relatives also joined the stir, paralysing the traffic. The woman, Kanthella Rama Tulasi (23) wife of Srinivas Kumar (26) a software engineer, told the police that she was deserted by her husband during pregnancy on knowing through ultra sound scan that she was going to give birth to a girl child. She hails from Pedapudi village and her in laws are residing in Kakinada while the husband working in Hyderabad. Her parents complained to police that they gave Rs.10 lakhs cash, 20 sovereigns of gold and 3.5 acres of land at the time of marriage three years ago but soon the in laws started harassing her for additional dowry. Meanwhile she became pregnant and the husband left her at her parent’s house two years back and did not see her or the child . Moreover, she was pressurised through the relations to accept for divorce and when refused she was assaulted by deploying rowdies, she alleged.

After the police registering her complaint, she withdrew the protest. UNI
