Woman alleges rape by SHO, four others in Delhi

New Delhi, June 23: A woman Tuesday claimed she was raped by a Station House Officer and four others in a police station in south-west Delhi, triggering protests with scores of people pelting stones at the building.

The woman, who resides in a slum in Inderpuri, had alleged that she was taken to the Inderpuri police station last night to enquire about her husband, who was allegedly involved in betting cases.

She claimed that she was sexually assaulted by the SHO and four others who later threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.

After she was let off, the woman said in a police complaint, she informed her husband who took her to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. The husband said the hospital authorities asked him to inform police.

Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said that they could comment about the incident only after getting the report of the medical examination conducted at the RML hospital.

“The Crime Against Women Cell is investigating the case. We can say anything about the incident only after receiving the medical report,” he told reporters.

The allegations have triggered a protest in Inderpuri area with about 100 people pelting stones at the police station. Adequate forces have been deployed at the spot.
