Mumbai, March 13: The Bombay high court on Friday asked a woman whether an unconditional apology by actor Salman Khan would suffice for allegedly using his pictures with her for promoting his movie.
The HC was hearing a petition filed by Phoolbanoo Ilahi. The woman, who is wheelchair-bound following paralysis during birth, said it was her lifelong wish to meet the actor in person. IIahi visited the actor’s building at Bandra and requested the driver Mehboob to let her see him. Mehboob promised to get her an appointment with the actor.
Two days later Mehboob contacted Ilahi and told her that Khan was ready to meet her at Film City where he was shooting for his upcoming film Veer.
Accompanied by her relatives, Ilahi met the actor. Ilahi alleged that after the meeting, Khan asked her to pose for a picture with him and called his own photographer. However, in her petition Ilahi alleged that she requested the actor to furnish her a copy of the picture and not share it with anyone else as she is a ‘pardanasheen’ (burqa-clad).
According to her, she was not given the picture but was shocked to see it published under the title ‘Dildar Salman Khan,’ in various newspapers on Dec 11 and 12. Illahi said she never asked or received any money, but the actor gave a statement saying he helped Ilahi by giving her Rs 1 lakh.
The petition alleges that as Ilahi has never appeared in public without her burqa and by publishing the picture she has “suffered mental torture.”
