Hyderabad, August 24: Super Specialty Hospitals Group, Wockhardt Hospitals has signed an agreement to divest eight hospitals, to Fortis Healthcare, for Rs 909 crore.
The divested hospitals consist of four super specialty hospitals, three satellite hospitals and one medical institute in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, a press release said.
Wockhardt will however continue to retain its association with Partners Harvard Medical International(PHM1), a self supporting not-for-profit subsidiary of Harvard Medical School. An agreement to this effect was signed with Fortis Healthcare, the release said.
“This has been a fair agreement through which, we believe Fortis will continue to deliver quality care and patient safety,” Wockhardt Chairman Habil Khorakiwala said.
By retaining seven of its super specialty hospitals in Rajkot, Surat, Nasik, Nagpur and Hyderabad, Wockhardt Hospitals has a strong presence in the western part of the country. In addition to these, Wockhardt Hospitals has three Community hospitals in Bhavnagar, Goa and Vashi in Mumbai , the release said.
Wockhardt plans to expand its reach into 4 more cities over the next 3 years, Khorakiwala said.
“Wockhardt Hospitals will continue on its journey of growth which would include a state-of-the-art multi-specialty hospitals in Mumbai Central within a year,” he said.
