Wives of APSP cops end dharna on DGP’s assurance

Wives of constables of APSP VIII Battalion ended their dharna on the third day at Kondapur here on Monday on the assurance of the Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy.

The police families continued their dharna on the third consecutive day on Monday. The DGP himself entered the scene and held discussions with the protestors and assured them of solution to all their demands. Satisfied with the DGP’s assurance, the police families withdrew their dharna immediately.

Speaking to the media later, the DGP said that he would solve all the justifiable demands of policemen’s families. He said that he would issue orders soon with regard to their problems. He also made it clear that he would not initiate disciplinary action against the police families, who participated in the dhrana. He said that he would sit with the police families every month and discuss their problems.

Dinesh Reddy also assured the police families that he would send back the police personnel working away from their families. He said that he would see that there should not be any harassment from the higher officials. He also made it clear that he would abolish the orderly system and ABC groups. Leaves would be granted to the police personnel whenever they wanted, he said, adding that he would see that there should not be any trouble to the police families in future. The police families have expressed happiness over the positive response from the DGP.

On the other hand, the police department sacked the Kondapur Battalion Reserve Inspector Vinod.

The DGP assured to solve the police families’ demands like abolition of orderly system, ABC group system, implement Tamil Nadu type police rules, three leaves in every month, priority in promotions to police personnel who have completed eight years’ service and assignment within 100 km radius.
