TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao on Tuesday demanded that the State government withdraw VAT from the textiles.
Expressing solidarity with the textile traders, who are staging dharna at Indira Park, the TRS chief said that Andhra Pradesh was the lone State in the entire country imposing VAT on textiles. Promising that the TRS would raise the issue during the budget session of the Legislative Assembly, he asked the ministers to prevail upon Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to withdraw the VAT with immediate effect.
KCR also criticised the frequent power cuts in the State which was consequently leading to shutdown of industries, especially in Telangana region. (INN)
