Tourism Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar on Friday refuted the charges that wine shops and bars were permitted in the sports stadium.
Replying to a question raised by TDP member Ibrahim Bin Abdullah Masqati in the Legislative Council, he said that consumption of liquor was prohibited for players. As consumption of alcohol by players comes under dope test and during matches or practice it might draw severe action including suspension.
Expressing serious displeasure over the minister’s reply, the members from the TDP, CPI and CPI (M) staged a walkout from the House.
