Wine shop adjacent to Munshi mosque, Chatrinaka

Hyderabad, December 9: The excise department has some rules and regulations regarding issuance of licenses for wine shops so to speak but they are only on paper and are rarely implemented while issuing licenses. One among them being that the wine shop should be atleast at a distance of 100 meter from any place of worship be it a mosque, temple or church.

There are two mosques at Chatrinaka crossroads one is Masjid Munshi saheba and the other is Masjid Omer which is at a few feet distance from the former.

A wine shop named Vajra wines is hardly 50 feet away from the Munshi mosque leave alone 100 meters. There is also a graveyard adjacent to the shop. People desecrate the graves by throwing bottles in the graveyard after drinking wine.

When our correspondent talked to the wine shop owner Amarnath Goud he said no doubt the shop is near the mosque but since there is no way to the mosque hence the shop has been installed here.

Readers! He is right! The way to the Munshi mosque which has been occupied by a Muslim has been blocked by installing a woodcutting machine of a timber depot at its entrance.
