Mumbai, August 07: In a few days from now, Wilson Louis would begin shooting for his ambitious film 8. A flagship project for Percept Picture Company’s newly found wing ‘PPC Horrotainment’. 8 stars Sameer Dattani in the lead and marks the debut of new find Sheena Nayar. For Wilson, the project is special because he is aware about the fact that traditionally, horror genre hasn’t enjoyed an upmarket audience for itself in India.
”This is what I too was thinking. I questioned myself that in India why don’t horror films get kind of respect that they should get? Why should they be equated to B grade entertainment? Why couldn’t we tell a story with the kind of finesse they deserved even if they had horror as the central element? This was it and I started grooming myself as a film maker who could explore different ways of telling a horror tale”, Wilson explains the reason behind him specializing in horror genre.
Audiences remembered Big B, I remembered Ramsays
As a result of this, there was a modest beginning with HO SAKTA HAI a few years back.
”Yes, my Bollywood career began with HO SAKTA HAI (2006) that did win international recognition. However, it didn’t create many ripples in India since it didn’t even get a proper release for itself. Since then I made two more horror flicks – KAALO and LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT – that are about to be released soon. Next in line is SHOUT (Sayali Bhagat, Seema Biswas, Aashish Vidyarthi and Sushant Singh) which is currently being wrapped up”, he details.
Looks there is quite a lot happening for him.
”Even though these films are yet to be released, I have been fortunate enough to make my presence felt in the industry and the result is 8, the latest film for which I begin shooting from 1st September”, he says, ”It’s an honour to be directing PPC Horrotainment’s first ever project. I am going to give 8 a stylized look and treatment. The film would be shot primarily in Rajasthan.”
