Williamson nursing finger injury ahead of second Test against Sri Lanka

Wellington: New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson has admitted that he is nursing a finger injury in the built up to the second Test against Sri Lanka, which starts on Friday in Hamilton.

The 25-year-old prolific batsman struggled with the injury during the first Test in Dunedin last week, which saw him being changed from his regular fielding position in gully.

Williamson, the world number three Test batsman, described the injury as quite sore, and admitted that sometimes it gives him discomfort while batting but added that he feels normal when it settles a bit, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The batsman, who scored a pivotal 88 and 71 in the first Test, said that such things need to be managed by himself, adding that it was just the nature of professional sport.

New Zealand took an unassailable 1-0 in the series after comprehensively defeating Sri Lanka by 122 runs in Dunedin. (ANI)
