Wellington : New Zealand star batter Kane Williamson, who is expected to lead the team after Brendon McCullum’s retirement, has said that he is pleased that his side continued their attacking brand of cricket despite the absence of their ongoing skipper.
Earlier, the Black Caps claimed a 3-1 ODI series win against Sri Lanka after the nine-wicket victory in the final match against the tourists in Auckland.
Reflecting on their performance, Williamson said that it was unbelievable to watch the last match as his players did a great job in the absence of McCullum, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Williamson further lavished praise on opener Martin Guptill for his significant contribution and said that he had been performing consistently which was in team benefit.
McCullum, who recently bagged the ICC Spirit of Cricket award, will play his 100th Test against Australia in Wellington from February 12 and will retire after the second and final Test of that series in Christchurch from February 20.
Meanwhile, New Zealand will climb to the top in ICC T20 World Rankings if they beat Pakistan in the upcoming three-match series, starting from Friday in Auckland. (ANI)
