Mumbai, August 15: Will the Thackeray family land up for a celebration bash that singer Adnan Sami plans to hold later in the month, a sort of belated birthday celebration? The Pakistani singer-composer turns 40 today, and completes 10 years of working in Mumbai.
It is a big day and he wants to make it memorable on many counts. He says he wishes to invite guests from the world of Indian entertainment and politics. And that includes those who had earlier campaigned against his ‘foreign’ origins.
Sami plans to invite Bal Thackeray, son Uddhav and nephew Raj, and prefers forgetting bitter experiences. “I want everyone who has made an impact on my life to be there. Even those who have had issues with my nationality. I am as Indian as the guy who lives in the apartment next to mine.”
Although his birthday falls on August 15, he has postponed the party so that his friends can make it. The Bachchans, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt are also expected to be invited, as is his first wife Zeba Bakhtiar who will fly down from Pakistan. “It needs careful planning and co-ordination since most of the guests are terribly busy,” he says.
Today, he is going to spend quiet time with his wife in Goa.
