Washington: Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio will sue the federal government if President-elect Donald Trump goes forward with his plan to establish a “Muslim registry.”
In a speech delivered on Monday at The Cooper Union before hundreds of supporters, De Blasio slammed Trump’s controversial policies, said, “We will sue to block it.”
“We will use all the tools at our disposal to stand up for our people.” If all Muslims are required to register, we will take legal action to block it,” De Blasio said.
Thunderous applause, standing ovation and cheers followed as he spoke. “We don’t consent to hatred and we will fight anything we see as undermining our values,” de Blasio said.
“If the federal government wants our police officers to tear immigrant families apart, we will refuse to do it,” he added.
“Singling out entire groups to round up and register is just plain wrong,” he said.
To all the Muslims who have have heard their faith belittled – we stand by you.

He urged the crowd to “always be proud of our values.”
