We will siphon justice for Rohith Vemula: Kanhaiya Kumar

New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union ( JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar on Wednesday slammed the Hyderabad University authorities and said that no force would be able to stop them from siphoning justice for Rohith Vemula.

Talking to media Kanhaiya said, “I have come from JNU for Rohith Vemula. I have come here on the Shahid Diwas of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. I would like to say that if we want to remember the three freedom fighters then we have to fulfil dreams of Rohith Vemula. We have to bring in social justice in the country.”

“It is very unfortunate that this government is not paying heed to the voice of students of the nation. Today, a student is not being allowed to enter the university campus. I condemn the authorities and police. This fight of ours is to save the country, save the democracy and siphon justice for Rohith Vemula, we will try our best to bring in the Rohith Vemula Act,” he added.

The JNU student leader also compared Rohith’s mother, Radhika Vemula, with that of Bhagat Singh.

Rohith, 26, had committed suicide by hanging himself in the University of Hyderabad’s campus in January. He was earlier suspended from the university hostel in August last year by the administration for allegedly attacking an ABVP leader.

The varsity yesterday witnessed protests after Appa Rao resumed office after going on leave amid the storm following the suicide of Vemula.

The protesting students vandalised the VC’s residence where he was due to address the press. (ANI)
