New Delhi: Asserting that the police has enough evidences against Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, Delhi Police Commissioner B. S. Bassi on Thursday said they will put forth their stand in the court tomorrow.
“We have adequate evidences against Kanhaiya to support FIR. We will put forth our stand in the court tomorrow,” Bassi told reporters here.
Kanhaiya, who is in judicial custody until March 2, today moved the Supreme Court for bail.
The apex court bench comprising Justice J. Chelameswar and Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre said they will hear the plea at 10.30am on Friday.
Kanhaiya was arrested on sedition charges last week for alleged anti-national sloganeering at an event during which there were protests against the 2013 hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
Kanhaiya has been sent to Tihar Jail and was kept in a separate cell. The concerned jail authorities have sounded a high security alert inside the prison complex and are keeping a round-the-clock watch for Kanhaiya’s safety. (ANI)
