Will place liquor syndicate report in assembly: CM

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday announced that the State Government would place the report on the liquor syndicate in the State before the legislative assembly.

In an informal chat with the reporters in the assembly premises, the Chief Minister said that the government had nothing to hide on the liquor syndicate issue and therefore, it would place all the details before the House. However, he appealed the opposition parties to cooperate and allow discussions on the issue. He said the government was ready to answer all the questions raised by the opposition parties.

Regarding the rebel Congress MLAs, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the decision has been pending with the Speaker. He said neither the Congress party nor the government was trying to pressurise Speaker Nadendla Manohar over action against the rebel MLAs. He said the party and government would accept whatever decision the Speaker takes in this regard.

The Chief Minister refused to elaborate on why the Praja Rajyam Party was still being treated as a separate entity despite its merger with the Congress party. He said there were some technical problems and the decision in this matter too rests with the Speaker.

However, Kiran Kumar Reddy claimed that the Congress party was not afraid of facing the by-elections. He hoped that the party would win all the seats that goes for by-elections. He said that the Congress party was in favour of holding Panchayat Raj elections in three phases. The municipal elections too will be held soon, he said.

The Chief Minister threatened to take criminal action against the junior doctors, if proved, that their strike was responsible for the death of patients in public hospitals. He slammed the junior doctors for adopting stubborn attitude over demands. He said that the cabinet sub-committee has been trying to end the on-going strike.

Kiran Kumar Reddy also denied of differences among the Congress leaders. He said all the leaders were working for the growth and strengthening the party. However, there might be some minor altercations which are common in all political groups. But, when asked, he refused to speak anything about Family Welfare Minister DL Ravindra Reddy. He said he has been told that the minister is unwell. (INN)
