Hyderabad, July 15: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Thursday rejected demands by the Telugu Desam Party members to sack Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao over the death of two villagers at Sompeta in Srikakulam on Wednesday.
The TDP members had stormed before the Chief Ministers chamber in the Assembly and staged an impromptu dharna, blaming Mr Prasad Rao for the violence which broke out after protestors pelted stones at police during a foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of a thermal power in the area.
After the Chief Minister dismissed the opposition demand, the TDP started to shout slogans against the Revenue Minister.
This prompted the marshals to physically evict the protesting members from the Chambers.
The TDP men then continued their protest at the Gate-1 of the Assembly and some of them suggested that they march up to the Secretariat to continue their protest there.
The MLAs were arrested as soon as they stepped out of the Gate-1 by the waiting cordon of police.
