Hyderabad, May 16: What has Chiranjeevi achieved after entering politics, aspiring to create miracles with his star image? He has longed to become the Chief Minister by entering politics. He hoped he could create a big tidal wave like late NTR and come to power, riding on its crest. He has dreamt that he would become the Chief Minister after the 2009 elections. Looking at the massive gatherings for his meetings he thought all that was his strength. He has neglected the party construction as he has come to the firm conclusion that he was becoming the Chief Minister. Because of this failure, all his dreams became nightmares. Finally he has realized that he had no capacity to run the party and decided to merge it in Congress.
Now looking at Jagan, one is getting reminded of Chiranjeevi. Though the conditions in which the two have launched their parties are different, like Chiranjeevi, Jagan is also proceeding with the soul aim of becoming the Chief Minister. His statement that he was anxiously waiting to dispose of the present government was evidence to his over enthusiasm.
When Chiranjeevi launched his party, several top leaders from other parties have plunged into it. They all hoped that Chiru will become either the Chief Minister or the king maker in the state. But what happened later? He became a 14th non-playing member of the political game.
Jagan’s party is also going the same way now. People are thronging around him wherever he went. There is an exodus of big leaders from other parties. Though Jagan won the by-election with a stunning majority, would his popularity be the same all over the state? It is difficult to say yes. One cannot deny that the sympathy wave of YSR played a crucial role in Jagan’s victory in Kadapa.
In this backdrop, Jagan should evaluate the people attending his meetings, the leaders migrating to his party and should take care that he would not mistake swelling as strength. He should also start alongside, constructing the party in a very systematic manner. If he moves forward with out a plan, he would surely meet the fate of Chiranjeevi.
