Senior TDP leader Kaluva Srinivasulu today said here that the party would explain its stand on the land acquisition for the upcoming capital city to the actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.
Srinivasulu spoke to media here after meeting the Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
Kalyan, who is TDP’s well-wisher, was misled by some people (into opposing the acquisition), he said.
Most of the farmers had voluntarily handed over their lands and only a few were unwilling, he claimed, adding that the construction can not wait because of opposition by a small group. Pawan Kalyan should interact with the farmers who have handed over their lands, he said.
The actor-turned politician has said that the government should not pressurise the farmers to give up their fertile lands.
Yesterday, amid protests by opposition parties and farmer groups, Andhra Pradesh government issued a notification for acquisition of 904 acres of land in the Vijayawada-Guntur region where the new capital is coming up.
Pavan Kalyan too voiced opposition to any move to implement the Land Acquisition Act and expressed willingness to meet the farmers opposed to the acquisition.
Kalyan had campaigned in favour of TDP-BJP in last year’s election.
