Transport Minister, P Mahender Reddy today said that bus facilities in the twin cities including old city with mini buses will be improved besides pressing adequate number of vehicles to suite the demand. He agreed to name Bandlaguda RTO after AIMIM founder Sultan Salauddin Owaisi after a Cabinet approval and also said that CC cameras will be fit at major points of bus stands wherein drinking water and shelter will be put in place. The minister held a review meeting with members of all political parties and discussed on improving public transport system in the old city and other areas. Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy, Ministers Padma Rao Goud, T Srinivas Yadav, MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy, RTC Chairman S Satyanarayana, BJP, TD, Congress and TRS members others attended. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will soon launch 1600 new buses for the commuters he said and asked the officials concerned to improve facilities at all the bus stands. In two to three months RTC depots for Falaknuma and Midhani will be started.
Narsimha Reddy expressed concern that roads are not up to the mark at various places and informed that another round of meeting will be conducted to focus on traffic problems in the city. Padma Rao sought more number of buses to his Secunderabad constituency. Teegala Krishna Reddy said that Dilsukhnagar bus stand is in bad situation and needs facelift. On this the minister asked the officials to take immediate steps and agreed to increase buses to all routes and begin mini buses in the old and city and other areas with narrow streets and by-lanes.
