Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India]: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday gave a befitting response to China’s warning against deploying the BrahMos missile in Arunachal Pradesh across the Sino-Indian Border and said New Delhi is keen to establish good ties with the neighbours but will do everything possible to counter national security threat.
“My preparedness is an independent exercise and not an offensive one. Neighbours should not worry about what I do. If security interest of India is questioned by anyone, we will take every action,” Parrikar told the media after releasing the sixth edition of global military yearbook ‘Brahmand World Defence Update 2017’ at the BrahMos Aerospace pavilion on the inaugural day of Aero India 2017 here.
“We wish to have a good relationship with Pakistan and China both. I don’t want to doubt anyone, but we are prepared. If anybody poses a threat to the nation’s security, we will do everything possible to counter that,” he added.
Earlier, the Chinese army in its mouthpiece had said that India deploying supersonic missiles on the border had exceeded its own needs for self-defense and hence, posed a serious threat to China’s Tibet and Yunnan provinces.
The BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile, which can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land. It can carry warheads weighing up to 300 kg, and strike targets on land and at sea. (ANI)
