Will double investment, employment in Gujarat: Mukesh Ambani

Gandhinagar: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani here on Friday announced that his company is planning to double the investment and employment in Gujarat in the next decade.

Speaking at Gujarat Summit”>Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Ambani said: “I am proud to be a part of Vibrant Gujarat summit from last nine times. Gujarat is Reliance ‘Janmbhoomi’ (birthplace) and Karmbhoomi (workplace).”

“Gujarat has always been – and will always remain – our first choice. At Reliance our motto is India First. And within India, Gujarat First,” he added.

“Reliance has Invested Rs 3 lakh crore rupees in Gujarat, and created and catalysed over one million livelihood opportunities in Gujarat. The company, in the next decade, will double investment and employment in Gujarat,” he announced.

In addition to that, Mukesh Ambani also announced an investment of Rs. 150 crores in Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Maltese counterpart Joseph Muscat in Gandhinagar.

More than 30,000 national and international delegates, including CEOs of major firms from India and abroad, are expected to attend the biennial three-day event in Gandhinagar.

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show is being held on a two lakh square metres plot of land situated in Gandhinagar. More than 20 industrial and business sectors will showcase their products at the event.

This mega trade show will continue till January 22 and will be open for general public on the last two days (January 21 and 22).

Gujarat Summit” Vibrant Gujarat Summit was conceptualised in 2003 by Narendra Modi who was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat, to re-establish Gujarat as a preferred investment destination. The Summit provides a platform for brainstorming on agendas of global socio-economic development, knowledge sharing and forging effective partnerships.
